This was a project that started out as an old storage cabinet, which was made into doll cabinet by adding a top shelves and sides. Then the piece was given a shabby chic finish.
this is cabinet after we added bead board back with middle shelf and sides added.after the build we primed the bead board back to be painted a solid pink color as a nice back drop for the dolls. The sides were primed and then entire piece was sanded to show areas of old finish to come thru.. We then painted the piece A nice lavender / purple color.. Which in turn we carefully blend sanded areas and in certain areas sanded right thru to bottom finish.. You can do this to your own liking.
on the front doors we painted white over the blue and lavender sanded finish. Then proceeded to scuff sand the white on doors.. We left original hardware period to the original base..all paint used on this piece was acrylic base paints .. You can also use chalk paints..
as you can see by looking closely the differ shades of colors coming thru sanded finish..
I do like how pink really compliments the dolls.. Thanks for looking any questions on techniques please ask
