Learning chef skills. Petite sirloin steak

Home project chef skills. First thing I am in no way a chef. But over year or so I got bitten by the chef bug. I really enjoy watching all these cooking shows and trying to learn. On weekends when I have time I try to figure out a meal to prepare . I look thru Internet and recipe pages taking bits and pieces to try for my own chef inspired meal . Over time I learn some things I like and some I don’t..Recipe for this meal is as follows …

Petite sirloin steak     (This was 1 pound for 2 servings )1/2 pound per steak.

1 onion, (sliced)1 green pepper ,(sliced )  1 garlic.(chopped)1/2 stick butter (4 tablespoons,),,2 tablespoons olive oil ,salt& pepper,,and a  1/2 cup whiskey.

First thing   Pre heat oven to 350 degrees..I then took large skillet on MED. Heat,,melt 2 tablespoons of the butter.add 1 tablespoon olive oil..then I added my  onions , peppers , garlic, stir until brown . After they are brown remove and set aside for later  use… Next season both sides steak with salt and pepper.. As to your taste,,I used large amounts salt and pepper., next add 1 tablespoon oil to the pan . Add meat and cook for about 5 minutes per side .( For medium  to well done steaks,, less time if you want rare to medium rare ). Then I removed  the steak from pan and transfer to oven on 350 degrees. Then I finished the steak to my desired  finish. I did this to cook my steak to MEdium  Well or about 160 for me..as the steak is in the oven I took my whiskey added to the skillet on medium heat and allowed it to simmer for 1 minute..after 1 minute I added all ingredients I set to the side  and simmered to my likeness . Which was about 3 to 4 minutes.. After my steak got to the temperature I liked ..I let it rest for 10 minutes. I then served it with my onions peppers and garlic over top.. You can adjust your temps. For your liking , I like my meat MEdium Well.. Now I know I am no way a chef, if you have any hints for me or recipes to try please let me know,,
